Tree Felling is the process of cutting down trees, using a series of cuts with a chainsaw so that they fall accurately and safely into a large open space. The other method to fell a tree is by sectional dismantlement, which involves climbing and then removing parts of the tree in small sections, sometimes using ropes and pulley to safely lower branches and logs in confined spaces.

Cestrian Tree Care is highly trained in the safe, and efficient removal of any sized tree. This includes removal of all debris from site and an immaculate clean-up.

We can also process the timber into manageable logs, to be used for firewood – For more information, please see the page for Firewood & Woodchip!

There are a variety of factors to consider when felling trees, such as: the size of the tree(s), the number of trees that require a felling, obstructions under the tree and access on site. The most accurate way to get a competitive price is to contact us, and we will arrange a visit!

Well, here are the most common reasons:

  • Trees can become diseased or suddenly decline in health due to environmental conditions. This will eventually lead to poor structural integrity, which becomes dangerous in gardens or public environment.
  • When a tree has outgrown its original plot, and can begin to interfere with the neighbouring property, roofs, guttering, drainage and the foundations which can become damaged.
  • Depending on budgets, it is sometimes more cost-effective to remove a tree rather than continually prune it over a long period of time.
  • Invasive non-native species can quickly establish in areas, and therefore removing them and replanting native trees, such as, Oak, Beech, Birch, etc is better for the UK’s biodiversity.

In most cases you do not need permission to fell a tree, unless the tree is either protected by a Tree Preservation Order or your property falls within a conservation area. It is also important to note that trees with active bird nests cannot be felled or pruned during nesting season (British nesting season is officially February-August).

All the branches and cuttings are processed through our Timberwolf woodchipper, on site. Logs are cut up and then loaded onto our truck to be taken away. All remaining debris is raked up and the site is leaf blown, to leave it as tidy as when we first arrived!
